The Fire and Burn Safety Show

Ongoing By Appointment

The Fire and Burn Safety Show is free to schools in the Los Angeles area, funded by a generous partnership grant from The Children’s Burn Foundation. In 2001, The L.A. Troupe partnered with The Children’s Burn Foundation, and with the help of this extraordinary foundation, has been able to reach over 800,000 children with important fire safety messages.

The Fire and Burn Safety Show is a lively, engaging program that teaches young children, preschool - third grade, life-saving fire safety and burn prevention skills. Children learn that they need two safe exits from every room, and that as soon as they hear the smoke detector, they need to get low under the smoke and crawl out of the house fast! They also learn how to check doors for heat and to locate a safety spot for their family.

This highly inventive show provides innovative, interactive fire safety and prevention performances for young children throughout southern California. Children are entranced by the story of scatterbrained Wanda, who hopes to make her house “fire safe” for inspection by the fire marshal, Inspector Danger. Using frequent repetition, visual cues for English-language learners, call outs to the audience, and extensive audience participation, students help Wanda make her home fire-safe while experiencing how to make their own home and families fire-safe.

“I do not exaggerate when I say that the educational program that you offer may help save the lives of our students.”
